7 Easy Ways To Love Your Home Even More
If 2020 has taught us anything it is that you are spending more time at home. Now, let’s make it somewhere you love to be. Quarantining has encouraged a cleaner, brighter, fresher perspective on your space, and time to evaluate how you live and consider ways to update and freshen your home. Often that means “out with the old and in with the new,” This is the time for evaluating, editing, and paring down. For others it may mean cleaning, organizing, and renovating. These tips run the gamut from simple to bigger and costlier home improvement projects, all with the goal of modernizing your place.
Update Fabrics
Replacing fabric items with new, clean, and brighter options can have a big impact. Consider replacing towels, sheets, and comforter covers for an easy home makeover.
Paint
It’s been said time and time again – Nothing gives a space a more dramatic update than a fresh coat of paint. This update is the best value for delivering a huge transformation. Are you into all-white or neutral walls or perhaps something more daring? You can do an accent wall or consider painting your doors for a dramatic change.
Change Furniture Placement
For just the effort of some lifting and pushing, a dramatic change to an interior can materialize with just a bit of rearranging. Is there a room or seating arrangement that seems to be rarely utilized? Now is the time to try out new furniture arrangements.
Remove/Replace One Piece of Furniture
Along the same lines as the previous tip, most of us have just too much clutter and need to remove at least one item. During your cleaning and rearranging, see if removing just one piece of little-used furniture opens up a space and breathes new life into a room. Some people want to wait until they can redo the whole room rather than replace items piecemeal. But don’t put it off! Replacing just one piece of furniture will give your room a boost.
Add a Pop
Choose a color or texture that you love and sprinkle it throughout the room, or ideally the entire home, to add a consistent and unifying theme. If you prefer metals over color, consider your silver, brass, chrome, and crystal accents. But if you want to add some more color, repeat it in your throw pillows, towels, sheets, placemats, picture frames, candles – items that are easily replaceable.
Cabinet repaint
Update the Kitchen
Instead of a daunting and expensive full kitchen remodel, consider investing in having electrical outlets added to the interior of a kitchen cabinet or two and storing electronics inside. If you’re looking for a bigger change, repainting kitchen cabinets and/or replacing outdated hardware (cabinet pulls and even the hinges, if visible) can hugely transform a kitchen for a fraction of the cost of a full renovation. Now is also easier to be outside more and use the grill so the kitchen renovation wouldn’t be as intrusive.
Bring the Inside Out
Now is the best time for livening up an outside space. Start with a great cleaning. Your space is exposed to many different elements so the first step is always a good power wash. You could update your outdoor space with a new color on the deck and trim of your home if you are not ready for a full repaint. And if your outdoor furniture is neutral, consider adding pops of color with the pillows and plants.
